I’m no professional organizer but these are some tips that have been helpful for me in the past that I hope you might find helpful too.
Getting organized, decluttering and refreshing after the holidays is always A great way to start off the new year and you feel great and doing so . I always start with these spaces in my home:
PLAY SPACES
Start by getting rid of any toys your children don’t play anymore. Set aside a pile to giveaway or for Goodwill for toys they no longer play with. This shit for you up some space for new toys. Create specific categories for toy bins ie. wooden blocks, games, puzzles. Put all of her toys in the back so as to make the newer toys more accessible and in view.
PANTRY
Start with throwing out any expired food. It’s helpful to have bins for specific snacks by bars and one bin, chips and another, etc. create different categories for different shelves I can kids on one shelf spaces on another.
CLOSETS
Clear bins
Bins are always helpful as they are stackable compact and if they’re clear that’s even more helpful as you can see what’s inside.
Labels
Labels are always helpful especially if you don’t have clear bins so as to not have to go through the trouble of actually having to open the bin if not necessary
The way I purge my closet as I ask myself is am I currently wearing this or will I wear it again. If I haven’t worn it in the last six months I probably won’t so I will either start away rather than hanging it up in the closet or give it away to goodwill.
OTHER ITEMS YOU MIGHT WANT TO FOCUS ON TO ORGANIZE & DECLUTTER:
Toss those winter coats:
Winter coats take up so much space many times we get a new one as a gift that we no longer wear the old yet it’s still very much wearable. If you haven’t worn it yet this season and you don’t see yourself wearing it in the future it’s time to let it go and give it to Goodwill.
Old winter boots or shoes
Winter boots and shoes or another item that can cause a lot of clutter in the closet again if you haven’t worn them yet and you don’t see yourself wearing them anytime in the near future it’s time to let go.
Holiday decor
If you have an abundance of decor that you don’t see yourself using or maybe your taste has changed and you’re tired of it donating holiday decor can be very beneficial to others. It’s always a nice feeling to start fresh and decorate the following year. Check your local organizations to see what they except for donations.
